In October 2025, a new COST Action was launched. One of the Action’s participants, doc. Ing. Martin Pelikán, Ph.D., Vice-Dean for Education and 1st Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management CZU Prague, will serve on its Management Committee.
For more than fifty years, the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) programme has supported the coordination of research through so-called COST Actions. These bring together international researchers and representatives of the private sector to collaborate on specific research topics.
The new COST Action CA24136, “Interactions between Control Theory and Machine Learning (InterCoML)”, approved in May 2025, aims to harness the connections between control theory and machine learning. Interdisciplinary collaboration between experts from academia and industry is expected to benefit society more broadly. InterCoML aims to apply its results, for example, in the fields of energy systems and healthcare.
Part of the research will also be carried out in the joint TALISMAN laboratory, established by the FEM CZU Prague together with the Institute of Information Theory and Automation of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The TALISMAN team will primarily involve the Department of Information Engineering at FEM CZU Prague and the Department of Adaptive Systems at the Institute of Information Theory and Automation of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
COST Actions play an important role in supporting international networking and the exchange of knowledge and experience, whether through short-term research stays at foreign institutions or through the organisation of training sessions, workshops and conferences.
The first conference of the InterCoML COST Action will take place at the Faculty of Economics and Management CZU Prague in April 2026.
