The Agrarian Perspectives conference, which has been associated with the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) at CZU for 35 years, provided a space for the academic sphere, agricultural practitioners, the technological sector, and other experts to meet and address current questions related to the future of agriculture. This year's edition focused primarily on digitalization, precision agriculture, and new technologies. The integration of technological development with the economic, agronomic, and practical aspects of agriculture represents one of the crucial topics in the contemporary agrarian sector.
The opening speech was delivered by the Dean of FEM, prof. Ing. Lukáš Čechura, Ph.D. Representatives from the academic sphere, agricultural practice, and the technological sector spoke during the plenary session—prof. Ing. Miroslav Svatoš, CSc. (FEM), Ing. Jan Miller (Farma Miller, Farmklub – Club of Rational Farming), Daniel Pitek (Association of Private Farming of the CR), and doc. Ing. Václav Brant, Ph.D. (BRANT ATEEC, STROM). Their presentations offered diverse perspectives on the transformation of contemporary agriculture. Discussions covered, for example, the role of technology and innovation, the economic reality of agricultural enterprises, the potential of utilizing modern machinery, and the question of how technological development truly transforms everyday agricultural practice.
The plenary session was followed by a panel discussion moderated by PhDr. Ing. Tomáš Maier, Ph.D., which explored the economics of agricultural enterprises, subsidy policies, technological development, and the use of artificial intelligence in agriculture. The discussion also highlighted that, alongside new technologies, experience and practical knowledge of the agricultural environment remain an essential part of decision-making. One of the conference's main benefits was precisely bringing together science, practice, and the technological sector in a single venue. The differing experiences and viewpoints fostered an open discussion on how agriculture can respond to technological changes, as well as the opportunities and challenges that digitalization and new technologies bring.
Thus, even after 35 years, Agrarian Perspectives remains a space for bringing together expert viewpoints, sharing experiences, and seeking answers to questions that shape the future of Czech and European agriculture.
