The Prague International AI Academy summer school focused on the practical and responsible use of artificial intelligence

From July 11 to 17, 2026, the inaugural edition of the Prague International AI Academy took place—an international summer school focused on the practical and responsible application of generative artificial intelligence.

The intensive one-week program, conducted in English, offered participants from various fields a combination of lectures and hands-on workshops. Led by Assoc. Prof. Martin Pelikán, Ph.D., Martin Čejka, Alžběta Pokorná, and Štěpán Pešout, students tried their hand at developing web applications supported by generative artificial intelligence, using the concept of vibe coding. Under expert guidance, they were subsequently able to extend these applications with smart features utilizing large language models (LLMs), AI-driven workflows, or autonomous AI agents. For instance, the applications could be managed via the Telegram messaging platform. Emphasis was placed on the practical application of modern AI technologies in real-world scenarios, critical evaluation of their outputs, and a responsible approach to their use.

Students from universities belonging to the international EuroLeague for Life Sciences network as well as the faculty’s International Business Studies Exchange participated in the summer school. Collaboration between the Faculty of Economics and Management and the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, which jointly prepared and implemented the program, proved to be highly beneficial.

In addition to intensive instruction, the summer school provided ample opportunities for networking and establishing international contacts. As part of the accompanying program, participants toured the CZU campus, the historical center of Prague, and other interesting places in the surrounding area.

The Prague International AI Academy is part of the FEM CZU AI Bridge initiative. This initiative serves as an umbrella not only for the international summer school, but also for semester courses and professional workshops focused on the use of artificial intelligence. Through this initiative, the faculty systematically develops international education and supports the acquisition of practical AI competencies, the importance of which is constantly growing for both academic studies and professional careers across all fields.
