The master´s degree study programme in European Agrarian Diplomacy, which is taught in English, was created at the request of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic. It aims to educate specialists in the field of the EU-Common Agricultural Policy who will be able to hold relevant positions in both national and European institutions.
The study programme prepares specialists with an appropriate theoretical background and managerial skills. Graduates are prepared to occupy administrative, diplomatic and managerial positions, especially in the field of public administration in the agricultural sector.
Graduates gain knowledge on diplomacy, international negotiations and the preparation and processing of relevant documents. The core courses profile graduates towards deeper knowledge of the European integration process, agricultural and regional policies, as well as the global economy and trade in agricultural commodities. Graduates will also acquire managerial skills and are able to solve specific problems at the levels of public administration managers and manage and control activities in a changing environment, manage complex projects and activities, including strategic planning. They are able to lead multi-headed, complex and heterogeneous teams or actively work under the guidance of qualified professionals or in relationship with them. They can formulate and present their own views, reflecting the approach of other team members, using multimedia techniques to clearly express information, ideas, problems and solutions to professionals and lay people. They are able to communicate in two foreign languages. They speak English at the level of a native speaker. The basic ICT capability corresponds at least to the ECDL certificate.
Students participate in some obligatory international projects (summer school with US students, joint teaching with students from Switzerland) and voluntary activities (seminar and presentations in cooperation with BOKU Vienna, ELLS summer school, student conferences). They are intended to join an excursion to the EU institutions in Brussels and Luxembourg. If interested they can participate in a 3-month internship at the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU in Brussels.
The acquired qualification enables graduates to work in bodies and offices of the Ministry as well as in international institutions. Examples of institutions where graduates applied: Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU, European Commission.
Administration study fee for MSc European Agrarian Diplomacy:
- for EU-students = 12 500 CZK per academic year 2025/2026
- for non-EU students = 42 000 CZK per academic year 2025/2026
