The master´s degree study branch Informatics that is being taught in English is to prepare professionals in informatics mainly for conceptual, analytical, projection and managerial activities, e.g., as:
- head of informatics department of a firm,
- manager and consultant in the information systems and services projects,
- entrepreneur and manager supplying new ICT applications,
- independent software development specialist,
- information systems analyst and project specialist,
- database and knowledge systems project specialist,
- designer of web infrastructures and configurations,

- systems integrator.
The master´s degree study graduate obtains deeper theoretical knowledge in the area of informatics, economics and management, that offer him the chance to independently apply methods and procedures aimed at increasing efficiency of the production and administration processes. In the area of applied informatics knowledge is deepened mainly in the information systems projection, advanced database systems, systems integration, information systems quality assessment, computer networks, information systems security, internet technologies, space data processing and other instruments of analysis, information engineering, elements of artificial intelligence. The graduate employs the knowledge obtained in the area of market research and information products marketing, too. Within a narrower area graduates obtain an idea of the current state of science and they are capable of critically applying new procedures, too. They are capable of managing teams of workers in the development or employment of information techniques in the given area and managing application of information resources in an organization. They have a sufficient overview of the information technology problems in order to become an equivalent partner of specialists in the given area. They are capable of creative participation in the organization´s information strategy formation and of critical assessment of possible solution varieties. They will be capable of designing changes in process organization in order to support fulfillment of tasks or the organization´s mission using the powers of informatics.
In economic disciplines the magisterial study graduates should profile themselves as architects of the systems giving basis for qualified decision making and control of the economic phenomena development in the past as well as for the future. They should obtain ideas concerning interconnections of these and their mutual links from the general economic disciplines. From the area of management they should obtain the knowledge with an accent on the management of changes (strategic management, tactical and operational management, methodic instruments, specific approaches to management of changes: process management, quality management, re-engineering).
The students also have a chance to obtain the SAS Certificate in the SAS academic programme, giving them a better position on the labour market. Mainly the large firms - insurance companies, banks, etc. employ this system and welcome the graduates at this level.
The universal education in the Informatics study branch offers the graduates a chance to find an engagement in all the professions applying the information and communication technologies. They can work for the specialized SW firms, the consulting, financial and commercial institutions, in State administration as well as in private domain, at all levels of organization and management. Examples of companies where the graduates have found employment: ŠkodaAuto, IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, T-Mobile, Google. The good level of their preparedness for practice has been testified through the research outcomes on University graduates´ unemployment level published, where for the FEM CZU graduates one of the lowest values has been reported.
