Important information for students before arrival in the Czech Republic

Dear students,

Please read this important COVID-19 information before your arrival in the Czech Republic.

If, before entering the Czech Republic, you were present in the red zone country for longer than 12 hours over the last 14 days:  you have an obligation to contact a regional hygiene authority, to undergo a PCR (COVID-19) test in the Czech territory and to submit the test result to the regional hygiene authority within 72 hours from the entry - otherwise, a necessary and compulsory quarantine measure shall be imposed on you. Until the PCR test result is negative or for the duration of the necessary quarantine measure, you will be subject a complete ban on free movement in the Czech territory + there is an obligation to wear protective respiratory equipment (facemasks) anytime you leave the place of your stay.

How will you know which countries belong to the red zone = High risk of COVID-19 contagion?

Those are simply all countries of the world unless they are listed by the Czech government as a country of Low Risk of COVID-19 contagion = green zone. An updated List of countries which are classified as the green zone can be downloaded on the webpage of Czech Ministry of Health. The webpage is available in the English language. To download the list just click the link called “Notice from the Ministry of Health issuing a list of countries or parts there of with a low risk of covid-19 contagion” below the map.

If you are NOT coming from or have NOT visited (as mentioned above) countries in the red zone, you DO NOT NEED to undertake the test or quarantine. Otherwise, you must present a negative COVID-19 test or undergo a period of quarantine.

How to present a negative COVID-19 test?

Result of the test is supposed to be sent to BOTH email addresses mentioned below, within 72 hours of your arrival:

covid-hc@hygpraha.cz (information for the Czech government)

covidtest@pef.czu.cz (information for the university)

In your email please write down your

  1. full name
  2. date of birth
  3. date of your arrival in the Czech Republic
  4. the country you are traveling from
  5. contact (cell/mobile phone / e-mail address)

How to undergo a quarantine?

If you do not have relatives or friends in the Czech Republic who could buy or bring to you what you need, you could use the services of the delivery or supply firms (https://www.rohlik.cz/; https://www.kosik.cz/). If, for any reason, you are not able to use these services, you may do your shopping yourself b– but for a very short period. In such a case you must be absolutely responsible towards the people around you.

Whenever you walk outside your place you must wear a face mask. Before leaving your home as well as on your return home, you must wash your hands thoroughly. Also, you must not remain in areas and rooms with a large concentration of people for longer than absolutely necessary (eg when doing your shopping).

All of the above mentioned obligations have been imposed by the Government of the Czech Republic. If you do not obey these obligations you will have to pay a very high fine and lose your study visa or permission to stay in the country. We, therefore, kindly ask you for maximum understanding and cooperation.
