Faculty of Economics and Management in the world of virtual reality

In the days 24. - 25. May 2017 the Faculty of Economics and Management CZU Prague participated in the Czech VR Fest, biggest festival of virtual (VR) and  augmented (AR) reality in Central Europe.

In the reserved part of the festival FEM created a virtual stand and introduced a virtual model of the faculty with photos and video projections. To view the VR the headset HTC Vive was used. The whole presentation was created in cooperation with Solirax company and was activated through the developing platform NeosVR. A 3D Graphic software Blender was used for the creation of models and smaller objects were scanned by a 3D scanner from the Structure company.

Interest in co-operation with VR was mainly showed by high schools and marketing companies. FEM acquired many valuable contacts of potential parties interested  in cooperation. FEM also came into contact with new products and technologies in the area of VR and AR. FEM considers using AR - HoloLens and expand the HUBRU Lab with another technology.

Faculty of Economics and Management CZU in Prague is dedicated to VR within the project's virtual reality lab project HUBRU (Human Behaviour Research Unit). The lab has at its disposal the technology CAVE, eyetracking, biofeedback and VR headsets HTC Vive. At the beginning of 2017 a close cooperation with Solirax company was established. Their platform NEOS VR is used during teachings, research and representative purposes of the faculty.

Representatives of the Faculty of Economics and Management also met up with the software engineer of the Unity Technologies team Amirem Ebrahimim and discussed the possibility of using the platform Unity in the virtual reality lab HUBRU. Unity Technologies is an international company that resides in United States in San Francisco, California with offices in Canada, China, Columbia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Korea, Japan, Lithuania Singapore, Sweden, Ukraine and Great Britain. The company is dedicated to creation and development of games and application in 2D, 3D, VR and AR. The company offers creative and realisation tools - Unity Asset Store, Unity Cloud Build, Unity Analytics, Unity Ads, Unity Everyplay a Unity Certification.

The Czech VR Fest was held under the auspices of the Deputy Prime Minister for Science, Research and Innovation Pavel Bělobrádek, dean of FEL ČVUT Pavel Ripka and head of DCGI on FEL ČVUT Jiří Žára.
