Description of Doctoral Study Programmes

Aim of studies
Studies in the Doctoral Study programme (DSP) are intended for university graduates who completed their studies with a required state examination in a field ensued by the DSP or in a field closely related. The basic aim of the DSP is to obtain and demonstrate the ability of independent research work in a particular scientific field by carrying out and defending candidate’s doctoral dissertation, publications and other forms of presenting own scientific-research activities, including completing all required exams and the State Doctoral Exam. The DSP graduates receive an academic- scientific title “Doctor” (abbreviated as Ph.D. behind the name). Students are enrolled into the studies on the basis of a positive result of entrance examination.

Length of studies
The standard length of the studies for currently accredited doctoral study programmes at the FEM CULS in Prague is     4 years.

Forms of studies
The studies are organised in two forms – present-day and combined. The present-day study form is the main form of the doctoral studies and also main employment of the Ph.D.  candidate. Students in the present-day form have the status of university students and in the course of their studies they are monthly paid a doctoral scholarship. The combined form is the form of studies intended for working graduates or the members of faculty staff who during the studies remain in their occupations.

Doctoral study programmes and fields of study
The FEM CULS in Prague provides the doctoral studies in four study programmes. The school altogether offers five study fields and their English counterparts completely conducted in the English language.
